From Unamata to Uncle Shot One; A Room of Improvement But...

| Currently on top of the game - Piksy |
Fully exploiting it from Nde’efeyo Entertainment, a label that has advanced in the hearts ofmany, Piksy’s Uncle Shot One does not only tell a story but shows it. This is creativity that few people have and even fewer master.
For starters, let me bring some few things to your memory. You all remember Unamata and how it put on a pedestal to Piksy’s reputation and how it obliterated the Sendeza Analysis, his melody crossing zebra to create a mammoth fly over of Piksy Chinfana Chodziwika Ndi Boma (CCNB). Am sure you do.
Simultaneously, when everyone was happy admiring Unamata video, I was cheerless and poignant to the point of contacting Kabuzi articulating my disenchantment of Nde’efeyo’s missed opportunity in the video.
I know to most people, it is simply an HD picture that matters in videos but from artistrypoint of view, it goes beyond that. I am ultimately happy that the said quality of“beyond imagination” has been attained in Uncle shot one. In simple terms, a story is not told but shown – thumbs up.
Watch both videos of Unamata and Uncle Shot One on mute (no volume) you will surely notice what I am trying to explain. While you miss completely nothing closing your eyes when watching Unamata, same can’t be said with the recent Uncle Shot One.Well, yeah you miss Piksy and Gladdy’s faces but you can envisage their physical appearance in your mind's eye as long as you know them. Put it in this way, when watching Unamata it’s more like looking at a moving portrait of Piksy and Gladdys holding hands and appreciating one another with no audio back up story.

| A scene in Uncle Shot One |
That is not the case in Uncle Shot One. It keeps you glued to the screen from the start to the very end. It’s simply astounding making it so unwise to miss any bit of it.
However, I find it so funny that the director and the editor could not take into account one thing that is so central given the message in the song. This quandary has made it a bit impractical to totally enjoy watching Uncle shot one on mute.
How to describe the problem? Well, an English teacher would say the video has a problem with tenses, a farmer would say it has a problem with seasons, an Indian would say it has no aroma due to the lack of spices and I will say it has a little problem in timing but I don’t know what you would say.
I know I have just made it so thorny to comprehend so let me abridge it with the best vindication possible.
Those of you familiar with Nigerian movies will be of the same opinion with me that when the movie has a flashback (showing something which happened in the past) the original colour has to grow fainter to another colour and universally used is black and white with sapient green in some cases.
Such a fade is so important in flashback stories for it automatically takes the viewer to such a particular time you wish to connote.
If you have watched Uncle Shot One you will realise that this is missed. Once again a teacher would say Uncle Shot One video is more like a sentence of the past but with no past tenses, a farmer would say it is something that happened in winter but being depicted in summer, an Indian would say it’s a cooking with just salt but no pepper (you know how they love pepper) and I will say the audio tells us of some moments they had in the past while the picture simply gives a definition of the present time. I truly don’t know what you will say after reading this.
All in all, I give Uncle Shot One 8/10 from 5/10 that I gave to Unamata. It’s a huge room of improvement.

A very nice review. I totally agree with you on the flash back part. I think you should write more reviews this is what helps artists to bring about creativity.
